Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the cancellation policy?
    If you need to cancel 4 weeks before date, 100% refund 3 weeks 75% refund 2 weeks 50% refund 1 week 25% refund Less than one week, no refunds.
  • What if I'm new to shooting and have never used night vision before?
    This experience is for everyone. We welcome and accommodate both existing shooters as well as people who have never held a firearm before. If you have ever been curious about night vision, then this is for you.
  • How long is a night vision experience?
    Around 2 to 2.5 hours depending on group size. Purchasing add-on adventure enhancements such as extra ammunition or participating in machine gun, pistol or precision rifle offerings would extend the tour duration.
  • Who can register for a night shooting experience?
    Any citizen of the United States that is not prohibited by law of possessing or using a firearm. In accordance with ITAR regulations, any foreign nationals are strictly prohibited from handling or using current generation night vision and will not be admitted under any circumstances.
  • Is there an age requirement?
    No. We are leaving that determination with the parents'/legal guardians' of any minors. We do reserve the right to deny access to or suspend activities for any minors if we believe that their safety would be at risk. All minors under the age of 18 are required to have their parents'/legal guardians' signed approval on the tour waiver without exception.
  • What do I wear?
    A good general idea is to wear what you would wear to go hiking or shooting out in the desert and would not mind getting dirty in. Items such as heels, sandals, boat or dress shoes, shorts, over sized clothing and sundresses are not suggested.
  • Is there a minimum booking requirement?
    No.
  • The tour/experience starts at 8 pm, what time should I be there?
    To ensure that your tour starts on time, your entire group should be at the meeting area at least 20 minutes prior to the listed tour start time. This gives us ample time to fit everyone for equipment, go over safety issues as well as complete any prerequisite paperwork that was not returned electronically.
  • Can I bring my own ammunition and firearms?
    For your safety, only firearms and factory ammunition that is provided with the experience are to be used. Any personally owned firearms or ammunition are not allowed on the vehicle(s) or at the shooting facility.
  • What is the maximum group size?
    At this time the maximum single group size is 6 people.
  • I have a large group or want to do a special event. What do I do?
    If you have a larger group or special event such as a birthday, bachelor party or company outing, please email info@blackoutut.com with your accommodation needs and we will be happy to work on a solution for you.
  • I'm having too much fun, can I buy additional ammunition?
    Additional ammunition can be purchased at the time of booking as well as on-site during the tour.
  • Is this a training course that I will be attending?
    This is not a formal training course or class. Our primary focus is provide a safe and fun experience in a very unique setting. We strive to offer an experience where guests will feel that they are not required or expected to perform at a certain speed or competency level in order to participate.
  • Do you offer any formal training?
    Yes, and these will be added to the website in the near future.
  • Can I drive or shoot from a moving vehicle?
    For safety reasons, we cannot let anyone drive any of the military vehicles nor fire from a moving vehicle.
  • Can I take pictures?
    You are welcome to bring your phone or any photography equipment you would use to take pictures at the start and at the end of the tour. However, flash photography is prohibited as it may damage equipment. If you would like a professional photographer to be on site the entire time and capture pictures and video in night vision which are then professionally edited, we offer a photography service.
  • I booked a tour but I'm not sure about the weather. What do I do?
    We go out wind, rain or moonshine. The only weather conditions where your tour may be suspended are during a lightning storm, fire or other extreme conditions that are out of our control that would hinder a safe environment. Please see our booking and cancellation policy for more details.
  • What times of the year are you open?
    Our annual season runs from April through November. If you would still like a night vision experience outside of that timeframe, give us a call and we will see what we can do.
